23 new dengue cases reported from Ludhiana district

As many as 23 new cases of dengue have been confirmed from the DMCH during the past three days. The patients belong to various parts of the district. Of them, 15 are from the city, while the rest are from the peripheral areas.
Besides, 19 more cases have been reported from other districts of the state. Of these, four are from Hoshiarpur, three from Jalandhar, two each from Nawanshahr, Sangrur and Fatehgarh Sahib, and one each from Kapurthala, Patiala, Ferozpur, Gurdaspur, Barnala and Bhatinda. As many as seven cases have been reported from J&K.
District epidemiologist Dr Anil Verma said: “With this, the total cases diagnosed till date in Ludhiana hospitals are 300 from the district, 85 from other districts and 100 from other states”.
Meanwhile, under the directions of Civil Surgeon Subhash Batta and under the supervision of district epidemiologist Dr Anil Verma, a team of the Health Department visited Ward Nos. 38, 39, 37, 13 and 15.
In Dhoka Mohulla, Khud Mohulla, New Kirti Nagar and Beantpura, the team members held 18 group meetings to create awareness about dengue.
A total of 72 desert coolers and 114 containers were checked by the team. Larva was found in 17 coolers/containers, and the information of the same was given to sanitary inspectors of the Municipal Corporation of the Zone A and Zone B for challaning.
The team members also distributed pamphlets among the residents. Spray of pyrethrum was done in and around the houses of patients suffering from dengue.
