36 tehsils declared drought-hit

The State Government has recognised 36 tehsils as drought affected on the basis of norms laid down by it. For wide information to general public the Revenue Department has published a notice in this regard. Principal Secretary (Revenue) Madan Mohan Upadhyay has issued instructions to publish the notification in the forthcoming State Gazette. Maximum number of eight tehsils each has been declared drought affected in Khargone and Mandsaur districts followed by seven tehsils in Dhar district. Similarly, one tehsil each in districts of Betul, Bhopal, Chhindwada and Hoshangabad, three tehsils of Neemuch district, four tehsils of Seoni district and two tehsils of Ujjain districts have been recognised as drought affected. As per the break up, eight tehsils of Khargone district - Jhiranya, Badwah, Kasrawad, Khargone, Gogawan, Segaon, Bhagwanpura, Bhikangaon and same number of tehsils in Mandsaur district - Bhanpura, Malhargarh, Mandsaur, Daloda, Sitamau, Suwasra, Garoth, Shamgarh have been recognised as drought affected by the State Government. Similarly, seven tahsils of Dhar namely Dhar, Sardarpur, Dharampuri, Gandhwani, Badnawar, Kukshi and Dahi, four tahsils of Seoni district - Kurai, Keolari, Lakhnadon and Ghansaur, three tahsils of Neemuch - Jawad, Singauli and Manasa, two tehsils of Ujjain district - Khachrod and Nagda are also drought affected. While one each tehsil namely Aathner in Betul district, Berasia in Bhopal district, Chhindwara in Chhindwara district and Babai in Hoshangabad district are drought affected.
