422 kl of fuel 'wasted' daily

The government has decided to implement the recommendation of the Central Road Research Institute (CRRI) on syncronisation of traffic signals on long stretches of roads in the country for conservation of petrol and diesel. Announcing this at New Delhi today at a news conference organised to apprise the media of the objectives of oil conservation fortnight, beginning from January 15 all over the country, the Minister of State for Petroleum and Natural Gas Mr Santosh Gangwar, said according to a study conducted by the CRRI at the instance of the PCRA, 321 kilolitres of petrol and 101 kilolitres of diesel were wasted every day on 466 intersections due to idling of vehicles.
