The sops to farmers continued to flow in Karnataka with the State Cabinet deciding to provide 50 per cent subsidy on the cost of drip irrigation system to horticulture farmers of all districts barring Bijapur and Kolar. Such a decision has been taken to help boost horticultural production amidst depleting groundwater level. Parliamentary Affairs Minister M P Prakash said farmers of Bijapr and Kolar districts would get 100 per cent subsidy on drip irrigation as they had made rapid progress in horticulture and facing severe water shortage. Cent per cent subsidy on drip irrigation system will also be given to Dalit beneficiaries of Ganga Kalyan Scheme.
