For the people of Bhadravati town the silver lining is distinctly missing from the dark cloud of toxic coal dust, sulphur gas and air pollutants from the Mysore Paper Mills factory which hovers perennially over the MPM labourers' quarters. Their anguished complaints to the Karnataka State Pollution Control Board, the police, the Ecology and Environment Department, and the Deputy Commissioner have gone unheard for years while lung, eye and heart diseases plague them.
