Achieve Feeder Separation and Rural Electrification Target by Dec 2012

Minister of State for Energy (Independent Charge) Rajendra Shukla said that the target of feeder separation and Rajiv Gandhi Rural Electrification Project should be achieved by December 2012. Shukla was reviewing the activities of Madhya Pradesh East Region Electricity Distribution Company at Jabalpur today. During the review Rajiv Gandhi Rural Electrification Project and Feeder Separation work was also taken up. He said that effective measures should be taken to contain losses in commercial, technical and distribution, stop pilferage of electricity, and improving revenue. Chairman and Managing Director Pankaj Agrawal, Executive Director (Feeder Separation) L N Upadhyaya, Chief Engineer (Construction) R B Kunda, Chief Engineer (ADP) A R Agrawal, Chief Engineer (Rewa) Pramod Kshatriya and representatives of construction agencies were present at the meeting. Shukla said that feeder separation in rural areas is a very important project of the state government. He told the officers to speed up in this work. He warned that any type of laxity in achieving the target will not be tolerated. Shukla said that there should be mutual understanding between the officers and construction agencies and said that special attention should be paid in quality of construction works. He said that at least 50 per cent of the construction works related to feeder separation and rural electrification project should be completed by the end of December this year. He asked the chief engineers to prepare a time-bound programme and review the works in every 15 days. The minister said that meeting should be convened at every three months in this connection. He asked the engineers to prepare a chart of target and progress of works. While reviewing the works it should be discussed how to remove the deficiencies. The Energy Minister asked the representatives of the construction agencies to speed up the construction works and complete them within the specified time. He assured them that there would not be any delay in payment of their bills. He told them to submit the bills in time and assured that the payment will be made in time. CMD of Eastern Region Pankaj Agrawal informed the minister about activities of the company through a presentation. He informed that comparing to previous year the losses are 3 per cent less this year. He said that there was improvement in revenue receipts also. He said that there was 15 per cent increase in revenue collection. Agrawal said that the process of payment to construction agencies has been simplified. The meeting reviewed points like feeder separation work, Rajiv Gandhi Rural Electrification Project, A D B Loan, achievement of physical and financial targets, R-ARDRP Project, proposed calendar of feeder separation work, pump connection under kisan mahapanchayat yojna, etc.
