Asian Development Bank, the Manila-based lender, said it agreed to provide a $100 million loan to help finance a project to upgrade the wastewater treatment and sewerage system in the northeastern Chinese province of Jilin. The 25-year loan will help cover the total $232.2 million cost of the project to be carried out by the Jilin provincial government, the bank said in a statement on its website today. The municipal governments of Changchun, Liaoyuan and Meihekou and local bank borrowings will finance the rest of the project that's scheduled for completion in December 2009.
