Panel : The expert committee constituted by the Supreme Court to suggest methods to improve municipal solid waste disposal has cautioned local bodies against using high cost technologies for generating power from waste. The committee was formed following a Supreme Court order on a Public Interest Litigation (PIL) filed in 1996 in the context of the prevailing conditions in waste disposal.
