After HC order, mining auction expected today

Chandigarh: The auction of Sirohi and Khori Jamalpur mines is expected to take place as scheduled on Tuesday as the Punjab and Haryana High Court on Monday refrained from passing an interim order to stop it. However, the court issued notice to the state government on a plea filed by one Kuldeep Singh who has raised technical objections to the auction. Observing that as the Supreme Court was seized of the matter, Justice Ranjit Singh said that he would not be touching upon the question of whether to extend the mining contract of the M/s Faridabad Gurgaon Minerals, whose lease for mining in said two villages expired on February 5.
