The centre's attempts to push through the ordinance for discontinuaiton of free power to farmers ran into a grave hurdle today with AIADMK supreme Ms J Jayalalitha openly challenging the move and later, forcing power minister Mr P R Kumaramangalam to clariy that the ordinance envisaged by ' direct subsidy' to farmers for power.
