All new residential buildings across the country will have to install solar water heaters as a rule. The Union Urban Affairs Ministry, alarmed by the acute shortage of power in major metros, has asked the state governemnts to amend the building bye-laws of the municipalities for the mandatory installation of solar water heaters.
