Buyer beware : Studies have shown that patients make more visits each year to alternative care practitioners than to primary care physicians, and most of them pay out of their pockets for the care they receive. But now in response to the growing demand and in hopes of reducing health care costs, more health plans are including options for alternative methods, and some U.S. hospitals have complementary care clinics.
