The Sidaguppanakatte tank, a small reservoir on the Karnataka-Andhra Pradesh border, has become the focal point of a brand new inter-state water dispute. The tank, situated in Andhra Pradesh, serves as a catchment area and helps thousands of farmers downstream in Sira taluk of Tumkur in Karnataka. Now,s the Anantapur Zilla Parishad has started work on a feeder canal that will divert water from the tank to P Byadagere in Andhra. The Karnataka farmers, understandably, are not happy.
