After losing hope for any further rain to overcome severe water shortage in the wake of the worst drought in the recent past in the Andhra Pradesh state, the state government is seeking water assistance from the neighbouring Karnataka state once again. Chief minister N Chandrababu Naidu wrote letters to his Karnataka counterpart SM Krishna and Prime Minister Atal Behari Vajpayee urging for release of 37 TMC of water from Almatti reservoir to meet drinking water demand of the state.
