Arctic refuge could provide 25 pct US energy needs - expert

The Arctic National Wildlife Refuge, a key element of the Republican energy plan, may contain enough oil to meet up to 25 percent of the nation's energy needs for nearly two decades, a geologist told Congress last week. Naresh Kumar, vice chairman of the American Association of Petroleum Geologists, gave one of the largest estimates to date on what the Alaska refuge would likely supply.
