Flood situation continued to remain grim in several Arunachal districts with reports of disruption of surface communication pouring in from various parts of the State.
Remote Anjaw district remained cut off from rest of the State for the past seven days, as the main road to the district from Lohit remained blocked in several places due to landslides triggered by incessant rains. Food crisis is looming large in Anjaw district following disruption in surface communication.
Intra-district road communications were also badly affected due to landslides.
Road communication between Hawai and Hayuliang remained cut off since August 11, while Chaglongam Circle is cut off from the rest of the district since August 10, an official report informed.
Though the BRTF has deployed men and machines to clear road blockades, recurring and persistent landslides were hampering the restoration work.
Food crisis looms large in the district bordering China, prompted the deputy commissioner Mamata Riba to plead the State government for facilitating air dropping of food items if the road remains blocked for another two days. The district administration has directed the PWD and other departments to pull in resources for quick restoration of roads.
21 Nallah, Nagas Nallah and Maipani areas in the district are being the worst affected, the report said.
