Australia gets a taste of environmentalist dystopia

Want to know what your life will be like if environmentalists have their way? Just look at the chaos in Australia a few weeks ago. On Sept. 25, a series of explosions at a gas plant in northeastern Victoria resulted in the overnight elimination of 80% of the state's gas supply. The residents of Victoria use gas for over 40% of their energy needs, and were subjected to increased safey hazards and reduced hospital services. Thousands were temporarily laid off as the crisis brought much of the state's economic activity to a grinding halt. That reduction in energy usage is roughly the same sacrifice crusaders against "global warming" want developed countries to deliberately inflict on their citizens. While the Victoria gas outrage was only temporary, it was an unpleasant preview of what lies in store for the rest of the world if the Kyoto Protocol goes into effect.
