Australia's LNG projects feel heat to limit greenhouse gases

Already struggling to compete in an oversupplied Asian gas market, two new Australian liquefied natural gas projects are now scrambling to reduce greenhouse-gas emissions in order to comply with Australia's obligations under the 1997 Kyoto Protocol. The cost of cutting emissions in another set-back for the two LNG projects, forced in the past few months to delay their start-up dates because of weak Asian demand, the project's operators said.
