The West Bengal government is reconsidering the implementation of the 420 mw second phase of the Bakreshwar thermal power project through the existing joint venture. If the joint venture falls through the government will be left with two options: it can either ask for loan from the Japanese, who are funding the first phase, or invite bids for a new joint venture partner.
