The Andhra Pradesh Power Generation corporation (APGenco) has appointed Bharat Heavy Electricals Ltd (Bhel) and Siemens to carry out a refurbishment and modernisation (R & M) exercise of its Kothagndem thermal power stations. The cost of the exercise has been pegged at Rs 475 crore. Tata Consulting Engineers has already submitted a report on the project's techno-economic feasibility. The R & M exercise involves the restoration of the power generation units to operate near their rated capacities. The project is expected to be completed within 26 months.
