Defining the Bhopal Master Plan-2021 it can be said that the capital city Bhopal would be renovated on the aspect of development- it would be changed into metro city. Presently there are 4 metro cities-Delhi, Kolkata, Mumbai and Chennai in the country. Almost all the capital cities of the big states are going to be changed into metro cities. Local trains and Trams were only limited up to Metropolitan cities. Now, in the new Master plan Bhopal would be provided facilities of metro train from adjoining Industrial area Mandideep to Bairagarh. Capital city would be stretched largely between both the points, but the new colonies have expanded the area of Bhopal city like other big cities in such extent that one of two routes' metro trains would not be sufficient for the metro city Bhopal. The arrangement of local train according to the master plan of the city would have to be increased like Mumbai which would be possible only this way. Later, there would not be available sufficient space or would be needed much clearing of buildings and other constructions. Old plan-2005 had been prepared in the year 1995 keeping in view the population of 25 lakh. Its area was of 601square kilometer. According to new plan-2021 has been prepared assuming the population 32 lakh. Keeping in view the smooth traffic there would be 4 railway crossings, 6 lanes over bridges, 16 multi-storey parking places, 4-6lane constructions in 13 routes and 10 sub-ways are in the provision. The investment area of the city has been decided up to 800square kilometers. 124 villages including the Bhopal municipal area have been included in the investment area. Kolar municipal area has also been included in it. Bhopal city has also two local bodies like Delhi. According to the proposed plan, permission would be given for petrol pumps at the distance of 150 meters, motels, resorts, Dhabas, restaurants and IT parks on both the sides of Hoshangabad bye-pass Road. Bhopal Municipal Corporation has prepared the city development plan under Jawaharlal Nehru National Urban Renovation Mission Yojna in which the suggestions of Global Environmental City and Lee Associates have been included. State Tourism Development Corporation has accepted several suggestions to construct Tourist Building. Along with this Kerwa area would be developed on the basis of eco tourism according to the recommendations of forest department and forest areas of the city would be protected accordingly. There are 14 lakes in the capital city stretched in the area of 3825 hectares.
