Big boost to DAE programmes

  • 04/06/1998

The fund-starved atomic energy programmes, including India's first indigenous 500 MW PHWR at Tarapur, four 220 MW reactors at Kaiga and Rajasthan, and the sophisticated AHWR (advanced heavy water reactor) technology, will receive a shot in the arm by the enhanced budget outlays for the Department of Atomic Energy (DAE). Research and development in the key nuclear institutions of the country, including fusion research at the advanced Fusion Research Centre at Ahmedabad, will also receive much-needed back-up support from the enhanced budgetary outlays.
