Biggest budget of 2015 allocated for health sector

Interim Health Minister, Mohamed Nazim has revealed that the biggest budget of 2015 will be allocated for the development of the health sector. He said that the estimated budget for the health sector is MVR 4.8 billion.
The interim Health Minister Nazim made this remark speaking at the event held to inaugurate “Maldives Health Care System” at the Nasundhara Palace Hotel on Sunday.
He said that the government gives a special focus on the health sector and the manifesto of the government allocated 85 activities for the development of health sector.
The Minister noted that the population of the Maldives is divided into many islands and health service system in every island is designated to provide certain services. He said that special guidelines are formulated to reduce the excess expenditures since the health service is very costly.
He also stated that the government has commenced special projects to maintain the quality of the services.
Minister Nazim said that the ministry has allocated the number of staff in every health service center in the islands which includes the number of doctors, nurses, laboratory technicians, health workers, technical staff and administrative staff. He said that this has been passed by the Civil Service Commission.
