The government will soon come out with an energy conservation bill which will prohibit use of inefficient equipment and would impose penalty on manufacturers who do not comply with the prescribed standards prohibiting use of inefficient energy equipment. Stating this at the national energy conservation awards function organised in the capital on Monday, the Union Power Minister P.R. Kumaramangalam said that the proposed energy conservation bill would make it mandatory for all equipment manufacturers to have a standard label on their equipment certified by an independent agency.
