- Biopiracy of Indian plants continues unabated

Besides neem and turmeric, a number of Indian plants like mustard, black pepper, castor and cumin have been patented, according to a report that says this biopiracy is continuing unabated by developed countries. A fact-sheet, prepared by a research foundation for science, technolgy and ecology, lists 22 medicinal and agricultural plants that have been patented by American and European countries.
