Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu has blamed the Almatti dam across the river Krishna as the main reason for the drought in Andhra Pradesh. Beginning a tour of drought-hit areas with a visit to the Mopadu reservoir in Prakasam district -which as many others in the area is dry- Naidu said the Karnataka government had constructed the dam and was impounding the water in total violation of the Bachawat award on sharing of river waters.
