A massive explosion, rocked a Chevron Corp refinery in California on Thursday afternoon, sending towering flames and thick black smoke billowing into the sky, witnesses said. Chevron said the blast occurred at about 2:30 p. m. PST (2200 GMT) at a hydrocracker unit in Richmond, about 10 miles northeast of San Francisco.
