The economics of blood donation has a direct bearing on the possibility of blood being contaminated with infectious diseases such as AIDS, Hepatitits-B, point out experts at the All India Institute of Medical Sciences.According to the donor screening report for infectious markers at AIIMS, there are more instances of replacement blood donors infected with infectious diseases such as AIDS and Hepatitis-B and VDRL than voluntary blood donors.
