Scientists have been able to "wake up" coma victims with a pioneering electronic pacemaker which seems capable of kicking brain waves. Cambridge University researchers plan trials on patients suffering from persistent vegetative state (PVS), a condition which is normally irreversible, after the almost miraculous recovery of some patients during experiments in France and Japan.
