Brazil began importing energy from Argentina in the latest project to use the resources of its regional neighbours to fend off shortages. Eletrobras, the state-controlled power generation company, which began operating a pipeline with capacity of 1,000MW that ends at Ita in Santa Catarina state, southern Brazil.
