The Electronics Research and Development centre, Thiruvananthapurm, (ER&DCT) has developed what it calls the Intelligent Power Controller which, when working in tandem with a wind electric generator, reduces the reactive power import, long considered the Achilles' heel of the system, to practically nil and also considerably improves power generation at low wind speeds.
