The Group of Eight industrialised countries summit in Birmingham is set to back a World Health Organisation (WHO) initiative to "roll back" malaria. Tessa Jowell, UK health minister told the conference that the G8 leaders were expected to give broad support to a WHO led anti-malaria initiative which aimed at not only at tackling the disease directly but to build up countries basic health systems to combat this and other diseases.
