Budgeting for a slum-free city

With wide tree-lined roads and planned buildings, one will be forgiven for thinking that the New Delhi Municipal Council is a prime example of urban governance in a chaotic city. However, there are problems her albeit of a different kind. Attempts are on at Palika Kendra, to project the council-governed area as a mini-city of international standards. Projects are on the anvil to remove slums, manage water and electricity supply to the area and maintain green cover.
