Buffer zone for Satpura Tiger Reserve Constituted

Notification for the constitution of Satpura Tiger Reserve buffer zone has been issued today. The notification has been issued after the recommendations of committee of experts and discussions with all Gram Sabha (villages).
There are 55 Gram Sabha (villages) under the buffer zone. A total of 12 villages are in Chhindwara district, 3 villages in Betul district, 16 villages Hoshangabad and 24 villages are Satpura Tiger Reserve.
In the buffer zone, 32765.521 hectare area is reserved forest, 26918.073 hectare is conserved forest area and 19720.803 is revenue area. Thus, total Rakba (area) of this buffer zone is 7940.397 hectare. A total 18985.035 hectare area is in the forest division of west Chhindwara while 29079.953 hectare area falls in Hoshangabad forest division and 14264.042 hectare land in Rampur Bhatodi Project Division under Madhya Pradesh State Forest Development Corporation.
