Bundelkhand region all set to get a host of facilities

Expansion of irrigation facilities in the six districts of Bundelkhand region is in full swing in Madhya Pradesh. For the purpose, the State Government has framed a special action plan worth `1,118 crore.
Under the plan, various projects have been initiated in the region.
The works will be completed in three years. However, `125 crore has been received so far from the Centre under the Bundelkhand package.
Under the action plan, `1,118 crore will be spent in the areas, including Datia, Tikamgarh, Chhattarpur, Panna, Damoh and Sagar districts. A sum of `100 crore will be spent in command area of Rajghat canal in Datia district. Besides, small irrigation projects worth `125 crore will be implemented in other parts of area. About `236 crore will be spent for the completion of Bariyarpur heavy project, `90 crore for maintaining ponds, `150 crore for capacity building, maintenance and constructions of new canals. Besides, 119 new small irrigation projects of `417 crore are in progress.
As a part of package, the State Government has started construction of irrigation projects. The works for 52 small irrigation projects to the tune of `152.38 crore are under-construction, while the works for 59 new irrigation projects of `90 lakh have been started in the region.
The works for the maintenance of 78 small irrigation projects worth `41.89 crore under Repairs Renewal and Restoration (RRR) are being executed.
Moreover, proposals for 39 new small irrigation projects after an administrative approval have been sent to the Central Government for approval.
