In a dramatic move, the Tatas may step into Cogentrix's shoes to become Hong Kong-based China Light Power International's (CLP) new partner to promote the 1000 MW power project in Mangalore. The announcement about Cogentrix's exit and CLP's rise to the new status of 100 per cent owner of Mangalore Power Company (MPC) was made by both the Karntaka chief minister SM Krishna and CLP business development director Tom Watters to the media.
