The UK-base Cairn energy, operating in India as Cairn energy India limited (CEIL), is likely to commence by early 2004, the production of hydrocarbons from the 'KG-dwn-98/2' deepwater block in the Krishna-Godavari basin of the east coast of India, where it struck a gold-mine of oil and gas reserves in less than a year's time of starting its exploration.
