The Delhi Bharatiya Janata Party chief, Harsh Vardhan, has asked the State Government to develop 177 urbanised villages located in the Capital as "model villages". "The Congress Government should immediately constitute a commission that will conduct survey in these villages within a period of three months studying their problems and then formulate a multi-faceted development plan for them." According to Dr. Vardhan, today on the agricultural land of these villages stand multi-storeyed buildings and commercial establishments thus degrading the entire environment of these urban villages. "As a result, these villagers are facing several problems related to power, water, roads, cleanliness, security, education, health, environment and community centres which need to be addressed urgently."
