India is needed to increase its energy production by more than 10 times to meet the demand of growing population and rapid industrialisation , stated Prof J B Chowdhury, Vice-Chancellor of CCSHA Haryana Agriculture University . He said that the present per capita annual energy comsumption in the country which is about 250kwh, was far below the scenario in developed countries, adding that the per capita annual energy consumption was 10,000 kwh in the USA , 5200 Kwh in the UK and 500 Kwh in Japan.
