The Supreme Court yesterday pulled up the Narmada Bachao Andolan for threatening a "national and international" campaign against Sumitomo Corporation and the Japanese governments if they participate in the Sardar Sarovar project.A bench presided over by Chief Justice A S Anand asked the Narmada Bachao Andolan to decide whether it wanted to withdraw its communication to the Japanese ambassador. The Gujarat government submitted that although the court had barred all parties from voicing protest in public on matters that are before it, the Narmada Bachao Andolan had sent the letter to the ambassador and carried on a campaign on the Internet against the government.
