Two years ago, Cardiologist Sandip Rane noticed an alarming trend in Mumbai. Respiratory ailments, chiefly among the children were on the rise. Encouraged by the Supreme Court directive last year on Euro norms, Rane filed a public interest litigation in the Mumbai High Court in the middle of the last year. The court passed its decision on December 15 and it passed some stern directives. Among them, the strict following of PUC norms, increasing the number of traffic commission's flying squads to 12 and setting up of an apex committee for future directives.
