The Cauvery Delta Farmers' Welfare Association has urged the State Government to open more procurement centres in the district to procure the samba paddy raised in 25,000 acres with borewell water, which would be coming to harvest soon. In a memorandum to the district collector, the association president, Mr G. Kanagasabhai, has said that as traders were getting ponni rice from neighbouring States, they might hesitate to procure the samba paddy and farmers would be badly hit as a consequence.
