A day after the US and Japan clamped sanctions against India for conducting nuclear tests, state bureaucrats are uncertain about the extent of damage to pending projects. One project likely to be hit is the first phase of the Cauvery fourth stage - funded by the Overseas Economic Cooperation Fund of Japan - that will provide drinking water to the city. The project is scheduled for completion by 2000.
