In a bid to provide a boost to family welfare programmes in eight states, the Government approved an outlay of Rs 250 crores in the 10th plan. The Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs (CCEA) today approved the plan that will benefit the states of UP, Madhya Pradesh, Bihar, Rajasthan, Orissa, Jharkhand, Chhattisgarh and Uttaranchal. The CCEA also approved the empowerment of the Empowered Action Group under the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare two years ago to function as a high-powered, single-window clearance mechanism for approving plans by the eight states. It will also be responsible for reviewing the progress made by schemes funded by the Centre.
