The Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs (CCEA) on Thursday approved the merger of the Integrated Development of Tourist Circuits (IDTC) scheme and the Product/Infrastructure and Destination Development (PIDD) scheme. The merged scheme would be known as Product/Infrastructure Development for Destinations and Circuits, information and broadcasting minister PR Dasmunsi said. The CCEA also raised the cap on the Centre's contribution for development of destinations from Rs 5 crore to Rs 25 crore and that of circuits from Rs 8 crore to Rs 50 crore for selectively identified circuits and destinations based on tourist traffic, he said.
