Plans are afoot to bring the Farakka Barrage Project under the Central Water Commission. For the moment, this seems to be best remedy for the ailing barrage. The Union Ministry of water resources has been running the FBP all these years, but has failed to ensure that there are enough people to man a barrage project as complicated as this one.
