The Centre has identified prominent cities in Uttar Pradesh for setting up special economic, urban development and poverty alleviation zones for speedy development of the state. The United Progressive Alliance (UPA) Government at the Centre has shown keen interest in developing Varanasi, Aligarh, Kannauj, Bhadohi, Khurja and several other cities for setting up zones for the phasewise development and revival of the small scale industrial sector, UP Congress Committee President, Mr Salman Khurshied said.
