Centre sanctions Rs 52.31 crore for electrification of 1,068 villages

State Congress has claimed that 1,068 villages of the Shajapur district of the State would be illuminated with the electricity on the initiative taken by the Congress general secretary Rahul Gandhi. Madhya Pradesh Congress Committee president and MP Kantilal Bhuria in a statement here on Sunday said that a sum of Rs 52.31 crores has been sanctioned for the same, over 38000 BPL families would be benefited by the electrification. The initiative was taken by the Congress general secretary on plea of a youth hailing from a BPL family of the village Imlikheda in Shajapur during a public hearing programme at his New Delhi residence. Bhuria expressed gratitude to the Congress general secretary Rahul Gandhi, Central Energy Minister Sushil Kumar Shinde and Congress State Head General Secretary BK Hariprasad for Government of India’s approval to this project in favour of the BPL families. Bhuria also informed that on Gandhi’s initiation, BK Hariprasad proposed a electrification project in August 2011 which was approved in November. The project concerned the full electrification of the 1068 partially electrified villages and 7 townships with no electric power. In accordance with this the central Government’s Ministry of Energy has approved Rs 52. 31crores and the concerned BPL families will get the electricity service connections free of cost. The State Congress President said, “The Rajiv Gandhi Vidyutikaran Yojna is a project of the Government of India which operated on the funds given to the State Government by the Centre and that the State Government only implements it” “The State Congress will organise a campaign for the villages and BPL families who are deprived of electricity so that they could profit under this project”, he added.
