The forecast of a below average monsoon does not augur well for sharing of the Cauvery water between Karnataka, Tamil Nadu, Pondicherry and Kerala, especially when the storage level in the reservoirs is reported to be lower than normal. The Centre will soon convene a meeting of the Cauvery Monitoring Committee, which assists the Cauvery River Authority chaired by the Prime Minister, Atal Behari Vajpayee to discuss the issue.
