GUWAHATI, Nov 26: Prime Minister Manmohan Singh today assured Assam Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi of forming an expert committee to go into the apprehensions expressed by the public about the mega dam at the site of the Lower Subansiri hydroelectric power project at Gerukamukh in Dhemaji district. According to an official release, Singh made the assurance at a meeting with Gogoi in New Delhi. The Chief Minister requested the Prime Minister to constitute a technical team comprising internationally acclaimed seismologists and hydroelectric power project experts to examine the technical parameters of the big dam at Lower Subansiri power project in view of the apprehensions raised by various quarters about the project. Gogoi requested Singh to set up a steering group to advise the NHPC to initiate measures for flood and erosion control in the downstream areas. He also sought the Prime Minister
